Description

Article no.: GB-45-869

An exclusive and detailed model of the "Fram," a ship used by Norwegian explorers in the Arctic and Antarctic between 1893 and 1912. It was built to be the strongest ship ever constructed, capable of withstanding the twisting forces of the polar ice.

Fridtjof Nansen wanted the ship built for his planned voyage to the North Pole, where he intended to let the ship become frozen into the pack ice. The "Fram" is the ship that has sailed the farthest north and the farthest south, and it is preserved and on display at the Fram Museum in Oslo.

Dimensions: 58 x 47 x 14.5 cm
